Yen Ching
574 S. Glassell St., Orange, CA 92866
714-997-3300
Yen Ching has served Orange County for over 26 years. In 2004 it was voted "THE BEST" in the OC Register. It also won "Best Chinese Restaurant" by the AOL City Guide in 2006. Although Yen Ching's Mandarin and Szechwan-based menu is large, the kitchen welcomes ordering off the menu. The flaming pineapple chicken is a favorite as well as appetizers like the sizzling rice soup, golden egg rolls and fried shrimp.

101 Noodle Express
1408 E. Valley Blvd., Alhambra, CA.
626-300-8654
101 Noodle Express serves Northern Chinese style food. It is home of the huge, Shandong-style beef roll. Although 101 Noodle has an extensive menu including a large selection of dumplings, everyone seems to order either the beef roll, a bowl of hot-sour soup, or a house specialty called “De Zhou chicken.” Better get there early on weekends since there is often a large, waiting crowd.
