Opened in January of 1989, Engine Co. No. 28 is an American restaurant reminiscent of the classic grills of San Francisco and New York - mahogany booths, granite bar, pressed tin ceilings and brick floors - set in a beautifully restored 1912 downtown Los Angeles firehouse. The Maria's tradition began in 1952 when Maria and Gilbert Lopez started a small take-out kitchen in the area that now houses our bar and fine kitchen.
