The appreciation that the Restaurant Eugene team has for history, the region and traditional foodways provides a certain heft and soul to what they offer. Allowing a local, house-made pantry to drive the menu, the approach is at once traditional and urbane. It is a 'sense of place' that one feels while reading the menu that begins the experience.

The name "Vivace", which is a musical term meaning lively, was chosen in an attempt to convey the atmosphere of the restaurant. Our intent is to provide outstanding contemporary Italian food at reasonable prices and service that is knowledgeable, gracious and attentive. To compliment the menu, it seemed logical to offer Italian wines. So, we created a wine list unlike any other in Omaha. We now offer approximately 200 wines, with many unique varieties by the glass as well.

The Chicago Firehouse was erected in 1905 to serve the Prairie Avenue Community and many of the first families of Chicago, such as the Marshall Fields, the McCormicks, the Palmers and the Glessners.
The building stands in much of its same splendor today. The tin ceiling, the glazed tile walls, the two fire poles located in the bar, and the chief's wall passed when entering the bar, are all original.
