Czech cuisine is meat based. It consists of pork or beef meat with sauce and a side dish, the most common and liked being dumplings. Chicken, duck, fish and lamb are also used in some very tasteful Czech dishes.

In 1954, Frank Sterle, an immigrant from Ljubljana, Slovenia, founded his Slovenian Country House. The menu was small. The restaurant, with only a few picnic tables and one waitress, was, too.

Since its opening, Sterle's Country House has featured traditional fare including wiener schnitzel, chicken paprikash, stuffed cabbage, klobase and sauerkraut.
